Info for sceners
If you clicked here you probable agree that for us names like Audiomonster, Moby, Lizardking (and the rest) mean just the same as let’s say Depeche Mode means for “normal” people. I spent my active scene years listening almost exclusively Amiga mods at home, many of them have been permanently carved into my brain. After moving to PC I stopped listening to them, but after a few years a wave of nostalgy came upon me. So I wiped the dust off my old modules collection, selected my favourites, and put together this site so that anyone else can download and enjoy them.
Selection and organization of songs is completely arbitrary. These are my favourite songs of those I have. They were converted to mp3 using the standard Winamp modplayer or the oldsk00l plugin (whichever was better), and processed individually through my TC Electronic PowerCore MkII pro hardware sound processor. That means balancing channels, EQ, filter, a bit of delay, reverb, and a complex mastering FX with compression. The result is not always the best, but better than most versions available.
Songs are organized thematically into albums. You can burn an audio CD of each album, or download all and burn an mp3 CD of all of them. If you ever wished to listen to the old demo or diskmag zax while driving or travelling, now you can try that :)

Info for non-sceners
If you have no idea what the scene is and why some people still listen to ancient computer music, here is a brief explanation.
The Amiga computer was born in 1985. It offered multitasking OS with graphical UI, 4 channel digital sound and hires graphics with 4096 colors. Remember that this was a time when most PC’s were running DOS on monochrome screens, and the most sound they could produce was the beep (you still hear it when Windows stops responding and you start hitting the ctrl-alt-del keys continuously). Not only artists bought this machine to create digital art, many of those who bought an Amiga started composing music or drawing graphics simply because this machine itself was an inspiration. These people formed groups and created innovative multimedia programs with the sole purpose of showing off their skills. This network of groups was called the scene, and their products were called demos. This was an immense and complex subculture with a good deal of competition between groups, and a very strict hierarchy which was purely based on talent.
Music on the Amiga was created in a tracker program. It was an app. 50 kB software which offered very basic editing capabilities, but at the same time allowed everyone to look into the structure of any music just like opening a document in Word and reading it. The Amiga could handle 4 separate channels (4 poliphony) with 8 bit sound at around 22 kHz. The average original size of these songs is around 180 kB! This sounds like stone age compared to today, but people were very inventive and managed to compose great songs using these very limited hardware possibilities. Tens of thousands of songs appeared during the years, and some of them became real classics with everyone from the scene remembering them. 15 year old computer songs are being collected in web archives and played in online web radios. This wasn’t a time of drag’n drop music as today, it needed a lot of creativity and talent to compose a good song. However, the original module format can only be played with special plugins on most players, and they don’t sound that good when they play without some kind of processing. Here all songs are converted to mp3 and got a pinch of mastering so that they can be enjoyed through stereo speakers or headphones.
